šŸš€šŸ”‘ The Vending Blueprint: 5 Steps to Secure Your First Location

The only guide you'll ever need

Hey there, Vending Hustlers!

Welcome to another edition of The Vending Vault, where we cut the fluff and give you the actionable steps you need to succeed in the vending machine business. Whether you’re just starting or looking to scale, I’m here to guide you through every step.

This week, we’re diving into the 5 Proven Steps to Secure Your First Vending Location. Over the years, we’ve refined this process, and now we’re excited to share it with you:

  1. Identify Potential Locations: Find high-traffic spots.

  2. Research Local Demographics: Match products to the local audience.

  3. Prepare a One-Page Sales Flyer: Design a brief, appealing flyer.

  4. Contact Decision-Makers: Reach out to key contacts.

  5. Finalize the Agreement: Negotiate and secure the deal.

During this week’s live session, we covered:

  • Sales Brochures: Keep them to 3-4 pages, include company intro, unique selling points, product menu, machine options, and a strong call to action.

  • Pricing Strategy: Aim for a 50% gross profit margin. Insider tip: fresh food is a loss leader to secure top spots.

  • Location Agreements: Use the word ā€œagreementā€ instead of ā€œcontractā€ to keep it casual. Be flexible and expect locations to request to ask questions about the terms.

If you missed the call, don’t worry! Reply to this email if you’d like to apply to join our private Community (and get access to us 24/7 + weekly live calls, and a lot more!)

Before anything else, we’d like you to welcome to our first interactive game in our Newsletter—the Vending Vault Mystery šŸš€

Here’s how it works:

  • Below, you'll find a blurred image of a part of a vending machine.

  • Click the link below to view it and reply to this email with your guess of what the item might be.

Get it right, and you could win $$$! šŸ¤‘

If no one guesses correctly, we’ll reveal the answer in next week’s newsletter and up the prize for our next round.

Current Prize: $10

Before you guess, keep these in mind:

  1. Each subscriber gets one chance.

  2. You don’t need prior experience with the item—just your best guess!

  3. Feel free to share this email with your friends and see if they can help!

Now, let’s dive into it!

Step 1: Identify Potential Locations

First up, start scouting high-traffic spots near you. Think within a 15-mile radius:

Gyms

Hospitals

Apartments

Office Parks

Laundromats

Bars & Nightclubs

College Campuses

Hotels/Motels

Manufacturing Facilities

Pro Tip: Organize everything in a simple spreadsheet (šŸ‘ˆ steal mine).

This will take a few hours to fill out but sets you up for success. The goal? Narrow your focus and avoid wasting time on locations that aren’t a good fit.

Ask yourself:

  • Will my machine fit here?

  • What problems could arise?

  • Is this location right for my business?

Balancing your needs with the right adjustments is key to nailing down a spot.

Step 2: Research Location Demographics

Next, understand who will be using your machine. Get familiar with the location’s typical visitors so you can match your product selection to their needs.

When you visit potential locations, pay attention to:

  • Age

  • Economic status

  • Preferences (what do they like, what do they need?)

Extra Tip: Visit at different times of the day to see how foot traffic fluctuates. The better you know the crowd, the more tailored (and profitable) your vending options will be.

Step 3: Prepare a One-Page Sales Flyer

Before reaching out, get your flyer ready. Keep it short, sharp, and focused on the value you bring.

Include:

What sets your machines apart?

Tested and proven process.

e.g., Offer to remove the machine after a month if it doesn’t work out

Make it visually appealing. A good design can go a long way. Want a template? I’ve got you covered—grab it here.

Step 4: Contact Decision-Makers

Now that you’ve got your locations and flyer prepped, it’s time to connect with the right people—property managers, business owners, or administrators.

Whether it’s email, a cold call, or face-to-face, your pitch needs to focus on benefits:

  • Convenience for their staff and customers

  • Family-owned local business

  • 24/7 customer support

When they’re interested, follow up with your flyer. Be ready to address concerns like space, commissions, security, or even the aesthetics of placing a machine.

Step 5: Finalize the Agreement

Once they’re in, it’s time to seal the deal. Draft up a contract outlining:

  • Terms

  • Responsibilities

  • Any financial arrangements

We use DocuSign to make this easy. If you need a contract template, find it HERE.

Pro Tip: Secure the Location BEFORE buying the machine

It’s better to have the spot locked down than to risk a great machine sitting in storage, unused.

That's it!
